Who's Right? Chief Justice Lambert or Attorney General Greg Stumbo?

Kentucky has one hundred and seventy seven prosecutors. (1) Out of that huge elected number, there is bound to be at least of couple of bad apples. What do you do if you are unfortunate enough to have to deal with a rotten prosecutor?

To answer this question, I went to the A.O.C. website. Chief Justice Lambert’s picture pops up on the home page, while his words read “(t)his web site is designed to answer some of your questions about Kentucky's Court of Justice”. (2)

Ok, so how do I complain about a prosecutor in Kentucky? After a little searching, I find my answer. Or so I think. Under frequently asked questions in the general council tab I come across the solution.

“How do I file a complaint against a prosecutor?
If you wish to file a complaint against a County Attorney or a Commonwealth's Attorney, contact the Prosecutor's Advisory Council, Office of the Attorney General, 1024 Capital Center Drive, Frankfort, KY 40601. Their phone number is (502) 696-5532.” (3)

So I did that. I wrote a complaint and mailed it to the Prosecutors Advisory Council. And guess what?? Within days, the attorney generals office wrote back stating that they didn’t have jurisdiction. (4) I called the number (502) 696-5532, and its only a fax line. Don’t believe me, call for yourself.

And so my question still hasn’t been answered. Who exactly do you complain to about a prosecutor?? Who’s right? Chief Justice Lambert or Attorney General Greg Stumbo?

My bet’s on Lambert. Somehow I doubt that Attorney General Greg Stumbo is going investigate his friend, fellow east Kentucky democrat and campaign contributor, Pike County Attorney Howard Keith Hall.
